September 19, 2008 – Vol.13 No.26 ZBB Energy and Eaton Corp. to Co-Share State of Wisconsin Clean Energy Fund Grant. Together the companies will use a $229,000 grant from the State of Wisconsin to develop a power conversion and energy storage system that manages energy from renewable energy sources. The grant will assist ZBB and Eaton in developing a rechargeable energy storage system that will be compatible with both grid and solar power. Under the grant ZBB will supply three ZESS 50 energy storage modules, totaling 150 kWh of storage capacity. Eaton will develop a unique hybrid power conditioning system to match with the three ZESS units. "This will allow the energy system to extend the availability of solar energy into the nighttime hours," said Steve Seeker, Chief Operating Officer of ZBB Energy Corporation. "We will develop it, model and test it, then the integrated product will be deployed into a commercial or industrial site." The grant is part of $7.3 million in Clean Energy Funding announced by Gov. Jim Doyle. Doyle said the fund is for companies "that are committed to expanding Wisconsin's clean energy industry."
ZBB Energy Corporation, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, provides clean energy storage solutions based on proprietary zinc rechargeable energy storage technology that addresses requirements in multiple markets such as alternative energy applications, large electrical utilities and green residential and commercial architecture. Eaton Corporation is a diversified power management company with 2007 sales of $13 billion. (9/19/08)
