juwi Solar and MiaSole Sign 600 MW Long-Term Supply Agreement.

juwi Solar, one of the leading project developers of solar plants, and MiaSole, the leading manufacturer of Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) thin-film photovoltaic solar panels, have announced the completion of a multiple year purchase agreement to supply CIGS modules from MiaSole of Santa Clara, California to juwi Solar of Worrstadt, Germany.

The agreement outlines 50 MW of shipments in 2011 and a total of 600 MW to be shipped over the period of the agreement. The framework agreement represents the next step in what has been a long term relationship between the two parties.

The companies signed two further purchase agreements to supply juwi Solar with MiaSole’s CIGS photovoltaic modules. The larger agreement is for 7.5 MW of CIGS thin-film modules and will be used in Q3 and Q4 of 2010 for ground mounted and rooftop projects throughout Germany. This follows 1 MW of CIGS modules delivered to juwi in Q2 2010 for projects in Germany and San Antonio, Texas.

The MiaSole module incorporates a glass-glass design, suitable for the most rigorous snow load requirement and design features such as a low open circuit voltage and interconnecting cables that reduce owner’s balance of systems cost versus comparable thin film modules.

MiaSole is a pioneer and leading developer of Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) thin-film photovoltaic solar panels, one of the lowest-cost, highest efficiency solar panels in the world. MiaSolÈ currently operates two manufacturing facilities with construction beginning on the third factory in 2010.

juwi is one of the leading project developers in the renewable energy sector. To date, juwi has installed around 1,300 PV systems with a total capacity of over 500 megawatts, among them one of the world's largest solar power plants in Eastern Germany, and more than 400 wind turbines with a total output of about 600 megawatts. juwi has subsidiaries in Germany, the United States, France, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland and Costa Rica.
