Zero Motorcycles: Zero X Electric Dirt Bike to Debut at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The all-new, state-of-the-art battery-powered Zero X dirt bike will be included in the Green Power Prix-View. The 2008 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach runs April 18 - 20 in Long Beach, California.

"We are so excited to be a part of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and especially to be involved in the debut of the Green Power Prix-View," said Neal Saiki, inventor and founder, Zero Motorcycles. "Our passion for the environment combined with our passion for performance makes the Green Power Prix-View a perfect fit for Zero Motorcycles."

The Zero X is not a gas motorcycle conversion but was designed from the ground up to operate on 100 percent on electric power. The Zero X chassis is made out of aircraft aluminum and weighs 18 pounds: The total bike weight is 140 pounds.

The Zero X accelerates from 0-30 in under 2 seconds. Its electric motor delivers over 20 horsepower with similar performance to a 250cc gas powered off-road motorcycle.

The Fast Charger, standard with the motorcycle, plugs into any standard 110 or 220 volt outlet. Charging is completely automatic with a full recharge in less than 2 hours. Zero X range is 40 miles and the cost to recharge is less than a penny per mile. Price from the factory is $7450 - 8350 plus shipping.

Zero Motorcycles is based in Scotts Valley, California. (4/15/08)
