Spire Corp. Expands to Meet Global Demand for Turnkey Solar Factories.

The company, which provides capital equipment to manufacture photovoltaic modules, worldwide, has expanded its solar equipment manufacturing space at its Bedford, Massachusetts and has nearly doubled its staff. The annual capacity for equipment now exceeds 500 megawatts. An additional 53,000 square feet of manufacturing space has been added at its headquarters facility bringing to a total of approximately 144,000 square feet of manufacturing and headquarters space at this location.

Staff at the Bedford facility, including contract assembly workers, is now 205.

Spire Corporation has reported three consecutive quarters of revenue growth. For the third quarter of 2007, the company achieved triple-digit increases year-over-year in sales of its turnkey solar factories and solar capital equipment.

In its solar activities Spire Corporation is a global solar company providing turnkey production lines and capital equipment to manufacture photovoltaic modules worldwide. The company’s Spire Solar subsidiary is the world’s leading supplier of turnkey photovoltaic wafer, cell and module manufacturing lines.
