Enova Systems Ships Hybrid and Electric Drive Solutions for Buses to Optare.

Enova Systems, of Torrence, California, a leading developer of proprietary electric, hybrid and fuel cell digital power management systems has shipped new orders for hybrid diesel-electric and full-electric transit bus drive systems to Optare plc, the UK’s second largest manufacturer of buses with a range of innovative single and double deckers.

Mark Houlton, Optare PLC’s Product Development Director, stated that: “We believe Enova’s hybrid and electric drive technologies and vehicle integration expertise provide an excellent platform on which to develop these two next generation low emission, alternative energy vehicles. The performance of Enova’s drive systems combined with Optare’s state-of-the-art light weight design, award winning styling and proven operational efficiency will provide our customers and passengers with low emission, fuel efficient vehicles that excel in comfort, technology, and value.”

The plug-in hybrid diesel-electric and full-electric vehicles will use the latest lithium ion battery technology to provide maximum vehicle range and fuel efficiency. Enova’s electric and hybrid drive system solutions include fully integrated on-board or stationary battery charging systems. (11/5/08)
