UPC Solar To Build Solar Systems For California Schools.

The contract with the Santa Cruz City School System is for solar systems at seven schools totaling 950 kilowatts installed capacity. UPC won the contract in competitive bidding in which Santa Cruz City Schools sought nine solar power systems.

The projects will be designed, installed, owned and operated by UPC Solar under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Santa Cruz City Schools District. The systems will provide 90 percent of each school’s total annual electricity requirements and 100 percent of peak demand power requirements. The projects will avoid annual greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions by 1,774,008 pounds, Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions by 613 pounds and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) emissions by 91 pounds.

UPC Solar designs, builds, finances, owns and operates solar power systems, including selling solar electricity to commercial, educational, utility and government entities under long-term power purchase agreements (PPA). UPC Solar’s PPA enables distributed generation customers to buy solar electricity at competitive prices with little or no capital expense. UPC Solar’s PPA enables customers to purchase solar electricity, instead of buying a solar power system, at guaranteed prices for twenty years.

UPC has 750 MW of renewable energy operational and another 3,000 MW of renewable energy in development worldwide. (11/15/07)
