ECG and EVTS Partner to Manufacture Low Speed Electric Vehicle.

Energy Components Group (ECG), an alternative energy manufacturer, announced it has agreed to be the exclusive OEM (original equipment manufacturer) for EnVironmental Transportation Solutions (EVTS).

EVTS has designed and developed the EcoV, a zero emission electric low speed vehicle (LSV) for neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) and city fleet markets. The EcoV, a fully enclosed four wheel vehicle, is aimed at meeting the demand for environmentally sustainable and affordable vehicles. EcoV has a 25-40 mile range, with extended capacity to 65 miles. It recharges for just fifty cents from a standard wall outlet. The EcoV also qualifies for individual federal tax credits up to $5,000. The price is $12,000 according to a press release.

Under the agreement, ECG takes an ownership stake in EVTS and provides key personnel in manufacturing, marketing, finance, purchasing and sales. The EcoV will be primarily sourced and made in America at ECG’s St. Clair, Michigan facility. ECG has been recognized as a Michigan Economic Growth Authority Award recipient by the State of Michigan Economic Development Corporation and designated a Renewable Energy Renaissance Zone by the Michigan Strategic Fund.

The EcoV was designed by Richard Marks, Founder and President of EVTS. Marks has 35- plus years experience in the automotive industry, including 25 years with General Motors and its EV1 electric vehicle program.

EcoV’s modular design allows for 2, 4 and 6-passenger multipurpose vehicles as well as pick-up and delivery trucks. The LSV has heating/ventilation capabilities, with optional air conditioning. (1/7/10)
