Vestas Receives Orders for Wind Turbines in China and US.

The two orders, together, equal nearly 300 megawatts of clean, renewable energy.

In China, the China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power Co. Ltd., which is part of the China Guangdong Nuclear Group, has ordered 232, V52-850 kW turbines to be installed in four projects in Inner Mongolia.

Like other nuclear power developers, China Guangdong Nuclear has in recent years been diversifying their activities from nuclear power into clean, safe and modern power production technologies like wind power.

Delivery of the turbines will begin in mid 2008 and is expected completed by the end of 2009. All turbines will be delivered from Vestas’ production facilities in Tianjin, China.

The order includes supply and commissioning of the turbines, a VestasOnline (tm) Business SCADA system and a two-year maintenance and service agreement.

In the US, RES Americas, a subsidiary of Renewable Energy Systems Ltd of the UK, has ordered 33, V90-3.0 MW wind turbines for the Central Plains Wind Farm it is developing and constructing in the state of Kansas. The wind power plant, a 99 MW project, will be constructed in Wichita County between Leoti and Scott City in western Kansas. It will be owned and operated by Westar Energy, Inc., the largest electric utility in Kansas, and forms part of Westar’s wind energy program, which will be the largest of its kind in Kansas to date.

The order also comprises a five-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery and commissioning of the 33 wind turbines is scheduled for the second half of 2008.

RES Americas is currently developing more than 1,000 MW of wind power capacity in North America.

With a 28 per cent market share, and 33,500 wind turbines installed, Vestas is the world's leading supplier of wind power solutions. (1/2/08 and 1/5/08)
