GE Energy: Energias de Portugal (EDP) to Purchase More Than 500 MW of Wind Turbine Capacity.

The total value of the supply agreement will be $730 million bringing GE Energy’s recent wind turbine order announcements to more than $1 billion. The turbines will be allotted to wind projects to be developed in Europe and the United States during 2008 and 2009 .

Under the agreement with EDP, GE will supply Neo Energia, EDP’s the European renewable branch, with 80, 2.5xl wind turbines for new wind projects in Spain and Belgium as well as provide Horizon Wind Energy LLC, EDP’s American branch, with 201 1.5-megawatt wind turbines for unspecified projects in the United States.

EDP, based in Portugal is a vertically integrated utility active in the electricity and gas industries and is world’s fourth largest wind project developer.

GE Energy, based in Atlanta, Georgia is one of the world's leading suppliers of power generation and energy delivery technologies, with 2006 revenue of $19 billion. To date, more than 6,500 GE 1.5 MW turbines have been shipped or committed for projects worldwide. (10/23/07)
