October 22, 2007 – Vol.12 No.31 Owens Design Expands Into the Solar Industry. The company is now extending its design and manufacturing capabilities to provide automated equipment used in the manufacture of solar cells. Owens Design has expanded upon their expertise in contract design and manufacturing of complex semiconductor capital equipment, by designing and delivering production tools for the solar equipment market during the last twelve months. To date, Owens Design has designed and manufactured production equipment for multiple companies producing solar photovoltaic products. The company says its capabilities include manufacturing equipment for silicon wafer based crystalline, concentrating photovoltaics (CPV) and multilayer thin film solutions (i.e. CdTe, CIGS). The company has organized a team of design and manufacturing experts who average over 20 years of capital equipment industry experience. Owens Design Inc., founded in 1982, provides capital equipment design and manufacturing services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the semiconductor, solar, data storage, and emerging technology companies.
