Third Planet Windpower (TPW) Places Order With General Electric (GE) For 167, 1.5 Megawatt Wind Turbines.

The $350 million-plus order will be delivered to TPW in 2009 for projects in Texas, New Mexico, Nebraska and Wyoming. The turbines, with a combined nameplate capacity of 250.5 MW, will be manufactured at GE’s facilities in Greenville, South Carolina with shipments beginning in May of 2009.

Third Planet Windpower was established in 2006 to develop, acquire, own and operate a diversified portfolio of wind generation assets. The company has 20 projects under development comprising more than 7,500 megawatts in more than a dozen states in the western two-thirds of the United States .

GE Energy, based in Atlanta, Georgia is one of the world's leading suppliers of power generation and energy delivery technologies, with 2006 revenue of $19 billion. To date, more than 6,500 GE 1.5 MW turbines have been shipped or committed for projects worldwide. (10/22/07)
