UQM Technologies Receives Contract from US Navy to Develop Advanced Electric Motor.

The contract for $100,000 is under the Navy’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. Research and development will be for an advanced electric motor that substantially improves the torque density, power density and efficiency over that currently available. The project is focused on developing compact high torque variable speed motors for the wide range of propulsion and power generation requirements of the Navy’s vehicles and fleets.

UQM Technologies, Inc, of Frederick, Colorado, is a developer and manufacturer of power dense, high efficiency electric motors, generators and power electronic controllers for the automotive, aerospace, medical, military and industrial markets.(9/24/07)
