ALL ABOUT SOLAR.
This week’s news.
With the solar industry flourishing more and more companies are securing new or stronger footholds in the industry.
WorldWater & Power, a solar developer specializing in solar applications geared for industrial purposes, has announced a strategic partnership with EMCORE, a maker of semiconductor products for a variety of industries including solar.
EMCORE makes high-efficiency, multijunction gallium arsenide (GaAs) solar cells for terrestrial and satellite applications and is adapting its high-power cells to solar concentrator designs. In the agreement the companies will cooperate on the development of those concentrator cells and systems. EMCORE will also be the exclusive supplier of the multijunction cells, assemblies and subsystems over the next three years to WorldWater. That part of the contract is valued at $100 million say the companies.
For its part EMCORE will purchase 26.5 percent of WorldWater for $18 million in cash. In return EMCORE will receive convertible stock and warrants of WorldWater. Visit EMCORE at http://www.emcore.com/ and WorldWater at http://www.worldwater.com/
For at least one company solar energy is now a better bet than slot machines.
Interactive Games, of West Palm Beach, Florida, a developer of electronic slot machines for the often lucrative casino industry, has announced it has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent with Nuvo Solar Energy, Inc. to acquire that company. Nuvo is a development-stage company that has owns a 10-year license for exclusive worldwide rights to a recently developed solar cell technology. Nuvo plans to manufacture and market the new technology in China.
Is Interactive considering solar powered slot machines? It seems not. The company plans to spin off its gaming business operations and pursue renewable energies - a safe gamble in a growing market. Visit Interactive Games at http://www.interactivegamesinc.com/
