WORLD WIND WATCH.

Did you know that wind energy will generate over 24 billion kilowatt-hours in the US in 2006, enough electricity to power 2.3 million homes?

Did you know that each wind turbine installed on farm or ranch provides land owners an income annually -$2,000 - $4,000 per megawatt - and only 2-5 percent of the land is needed for one or more turbines and access roads?

Did you know that as many as 215,000 new jobs would be created by adding 50,000 MW of new wind installations in the US?

While wind energy (and other green energy) advocates are often thought of as belonging to organized groups, the best advocates could very well be individuals; people to tell the green energy story to other people; friends who convince friends to go green. Armed with the right set of facts they may do a better job of advocacy than organized groups.

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has opened a new website to make sure both advocacy groups and citizen advocates are well armed. The site - If Not Wind.org - is full of facts, like the ones above and many more, that every wind advocate should keep stored in the crevasses of his brain. When the discussion of wind energy comes up, he or she will be ready to fire back with accuracy.
