ALL ABOUT SOLAR.

This week’s news.

The simplicity of the direct conversion of sunlight to electricity gives photovoltaic solar energy its appeal. But where cost is a factor, converting the Sun’s radiant energy to electricity is the less expensive bet, at least for now.

A group in Colorado wants the state’s government to know that and is encouraging the state to shift incentives there from coal to concentrating solar power (CSP)

The group, Ratepayers United, says in a statement that “The southwestern United States has superb solar resources, with more energy than Saudi Arabia waiting to be tapped.” Visit the group at http://www.ratepayersunited.org/

EI Solutions has completed a 490-kilowatt solar power plant for the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District in San Rafael, California. As an addition to an 81-kilowatt system built two years ago by EI Solutions, the plant provides 90 percent of the waste water treatment plant’s power needs and $170,000 per year in electricity costs. The system uses 2940 Sharp Solar panels. Visit EI Solutions at http://solutions.energyinnovations.com/
