WORLD WIND WATCH.

John Deere has been providing equipment to farmers since 1837. Now the company is helping farmers reap the benefits of the breezes above their fields. The company is in the wind energy business as a debt and equity investor in large scale wind energy projects: projects that can be built on farmer’s lands.

The company announced in February that it would help develop the State of Missouri’s first wind energy project, the 50 megawatt Bluegrass Ridge project in King City, Missouri. That project, set to be complete late in 2006, will use 24 Suzlon turbines.

Now, Deere has placed an order with Vestas for 65, 1.65 megawatt turbines for delivery beginning in December 2006. Installation is set to be completed at an unannounced site in 2007. The contract with Vestas includes supply, commissioning and 5-years of service and maintenance. ENMAX of Calgary, Alberta, and its predecessors, has been supplying electricity to Albertans for over 100 years. Like the windy plains of the US, the windy plains of the provinces of central Canada are a reliable wind resource. ENMAX is taking advantage of those resources.

The company has announced construction of the 80-megawatt Taber Wind Farm in the Municipal District of Tabor in Southern Alberta. The project of 37 turbines is set for completion in the first quarter of 2007.

All of the power from Tabor will be sold to the City of Calgary in a 20-year agreement where it will be used to power 75-percent of municipal operations. Visit ENMAX at http://www.enmax.com/

General Electric has announced that 36 of its most popular wind turbine model - the 1.5 megawatt - have been commissioned and entered service at the Alsleban Wind Project in Germany, one of the country’s largest.

The turbines have added 54 megawatts to the the project that will supply enough power for about 30,000 German households. Visit GE Energy at http://www.gepower.com/
