This week’s news...

Overall the company wants to act as a clearinghouse for solar and alternative energy solutions utilizing its claimed global network of contacts. Gaiam Real Goods claims to have solarized more homes in the U.S. than any other company - more than 60,000 to date. (Solarized means some level of solar power, not necessarily 100-percent solar.)

With the California Public Utility Commission’s approval of $3.2 billion in solar power subsidies, the company now says inquires for solar power are going through the roof, so to speak.

The company, which has been selling solar since 1978, is seeking to increase sales to California customers by deducting the amount of the California rebate from their initial bill so that they don’t have to wait 2-3 month’s to get the check in the mail.
