WORLD WIND WATCH.

Wind turbine orders galore...

For GE, 100, 1.5 megawatt turbines for the Jiangsu Rudong Concession II Wind Project in Jiangsu Province, China. 67 will be installed in 2006, 33 in 07. All of the turbines will be assembled in China.

(Also for GE, as a result of two recent agreements, 334, 1.5 megawatt turbines will be delivered to PPM Energy in 2006 and 2007 for unstated projects in the U.S. However, PPM has acquired the development rights for the 400-megawatt Penascal wind farm to be located in Kenedy County, Texas. Maybe some of the turbines will go there.)

For Vestas, 31, 3.0 megawatt turbines for the Tararua III Wind Farm, located on the North Island of New Zealand. Installation late next year, commissioning in 2007.

For Gamesa, 11, 2.0 megawatt turbines for a 22-megawatt wind farm in Poland. Installation for the middle of 2006.

For Nordex, at least 133, 1.5 megawatt turbines for projects in China. The first 26 turbines will be built in 2006 in China as part of a manufacturing partnership with companies there. The order for 133 turbines is the first of many expected. China plans to expand its wind capacity to 30,000 megawatts by 2020. That’s a lot of turbines.
