WORLD WIND WATCH.

Gamesa is moving offshore. In a joint venture with Capitol Energy a new company has been created: Capitol Energy Off Shore. The new company has a development portfolio of nearly 3700 megawatts of offshore wind capacity planned for the coastal waters of Spain. A further 2000 megawatts of planned wind capacity in the EU is included in the portfolio

Currently Gamesa owns 35 percent of the company, Capitol Energy the remainder. Presumably Gamesa would supply the turbines for the projects, should they be built.

Gamesa continues to keep its turbine manufacturing plants busy. The most recent order is for 14, 850-kilowatt turbines for an 11.9 megawatt wind farm in Spain. Visit Gamesa at http://www.gamesa.es/ .

For the first phase of the Arga Wind Farm, a 256-megawatt project in Portugal, Vestas will be supplying 12, 3.0 megawatt V.90 turbines.

Arga will be built in the northern part of Portugal in the municipalities of Caminha, Melgaco, Moncao, Paredes de Coura, Valenca and Vila Nova de Cerveira. Arga will one of the largest wind farms in Portugal. The installation of the turbines at the site should be complete by end of 2005. Visit Vestas at http://www.vestas.com/ .

Deep in Alliant Energy’s 2013 Generation Plan is 100 megawatts of new wind capacity to be built in Iowa by 2008. An additional 200 megawatts of wind capacity may be built or purchased. Visit Alliant Energy at http://www.alliantenergy.com/
