GAMBLING ON GASOLINE.
Like playing the ponies? Have a penchant for the one-armed bandit? How about a late night round of poker with a bottle of whiskey at your side?
Forget about all that. Place your bets over the Internet on the skyrocketing price of gasoline.
The largest sports betting site on the Internet, PinnacleSports.com, has created a number of betting options on the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the U.S. The price is based on the average posted by the American Automobile Association (AAA) at their Daily Fuel Gauge Report website.
The price of gas is expected to continue to head generally North for awhile - how high and by when are where the bets are.
As of August 5, 2005 PinnacleSports listed the odds:
--- Will the average price of regular gas reach $3.00 per gallon in New York or Los Angeles by 01/01/06?
No 1/50
Yes 30/1
--- Will the average price of gas in the U.S. reach $2.35 per gallon by Labor Day, 09/05/2005?
No 20/21
Yes 20/21
--- Will the average price of gas in the U.S. reach $2.40 per gallon by 01/01/2006?
No 5/11
