WORLD WIND WATCH.

Of the major wind turbine companies, only Gamesa, and perhaps GE, are showing signs of life.

Gamesa has announced major wind turbine contracts in two economies that are also lively - China and India.

The company announced recently that it will supply 94, G58-850 kilowatt turbines for two wind farms in China, 36 for the Datang Zhangpu Liuao project in Fujian Province, and 58 for the Jilin Huaneng Taobei wind farm in Jilin province. The first project is owned by the Datang Corporation, the latter by Huaneng New Energy and Environment Protection.

The 94 turbines will have a name plate capacity of 80 megawatts and will be installed in the second quarter of 2005. The value of the order is almost EUR 40 million ($51.5 million).

Gamesa has 217.5 megawatts of wind turbine capacity in China either already installed or ready for installation in 2005.

In the other growing economic powerhouse in Asia, Gamesa has announced a sale of 10, G58 -850 kilowatt turbines to Pioneer Wind Asia for installation at the Tamil Nadu II wind farm in India.

This is the second sale to Pioneer by Gamesa in less than a year. In August of 2004 Pioneer bought seven turbines of the same model.

Wind power capacity in India, now ranked fifth in the world at 2125 megawatts, is expected to increase by another 4925 megawatts in the period of 2004-2008. Visit Gamesa at http://www.gamesa.es/ .
