REALLY FAST, ELECTRIC AND RED.
Ohio, the one state that the Democrats really needed to put John Kerry in the White House, is also home of the fastest battery electric automobile on earth - 300 miles per hour fast.
The Buckeye Bullet from a student engineering team at Ohio State University (OSU) has been clocked at more than 314 miles per hour at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah for a national record.
The Buckeye Bullet was built at OSU’s Center for Automotive Research in Columbus, Ohio and is supported by a team largely of undergraduate students - the Buckeye Bullet Electric Land Speed Racing Team.
The two-ton cigar shaped car is 31 feet long, 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall and is powered by a 400-plus horsepower electric traction motor. A 900 pound rechargeable battery pack supplies power for short runs. Light but strong carbon fiber is used in the body panels which fit over a metal tubular frame.
The Peak Timed Mile Record for the car is better than 321 miles per hour. The Buckeye Bullet also set an International Record of more than 271 miles per hour. Visit the Buckeye Bullet at http://www.buckeyebullet.com/ .
