HYBRIDS FOR CHINA.
As part of the deal to hold the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, the city has agreed to clean up its act. That is, clean up its air and water. Attendees will benefit immediately. The benefits to the citizens will linger long after the closing ceremonies.
American company, Enova Systems, will also be a beneficiary of Beijing’s clean-up.
The company has entered into a development and sales agreement with China’s First Auto Works (FAW) for a two-phase development program utilizing Enova’s hybrid-electric propulsion systems and power controllers to be used in FAWs newest generation hybrid buses.
In the first phase Enova’s 90-kilowatt Panther (tm) drive system will be modified for use in the FAW hybrid. The second phase will move the modified Panther and controllers towards production. China is seeking up to 1000 hybrid electric buses to support the event.
FAW is the largest vehicle manufacturer in the nation and has plans to develop battery and fuel cell vehicles in the future. Visit Enova at http:// www.enovasystems.com/ .
