OBVIOUS SOLAR MARKET.

Small, micro, single use solar systems are an easy sell. Devices that can operate without connection to the grid – no wires attached, running on solar power alone – are the obvious and growing choice in signage lighting, power for security and traffic monitoring cameras, street lights, pathway marking lights, bus shelters and more.

Plant’em. Aim the panel at the sun and they work. No cables to run. No tax incentives necessary. Customers love them.

Carmanah, a maker of solar power LED (light-emitting diode) devices has proudly announced that it has shipped more than 100,000 units to customers world-wide.

Among the products the company makes are solar powered airport lights (15,000 airfield lights installed in 60 countries), LED illuminated solar powered bus shelters (in use by more than 70 transit agencies) and the company is now making a solar-powered LED pedestrian crosswalk beacon, a school zone beacon and 24-hour flashers.

The company’s core technologies are solar powered marine lights for marker buoys. The company is continuously looking for new ideas for single use, dedicated solar powered applications.

Sharp Solar has also recognized this obvious market and has recently begun marketing a Solar Street Light.
