FUEL CELLS FOR THE HOME.
When a fuel cell is a cogenerator - making heat, hot water and electricity - it is at its highest efficiency. Though vehicles can put some of the thermal energy from a fuel cell to work - heat and air conditioning - a cogenerating fuel cell is better suited for a home, small business or in distributed power applications.
Nuvera Fuel Cells, of Italy and the U.S., has signed an agreement with Takagi Industrial of Japan to develop and commercialize a 5-kilowatt natural gas fueled fuel cell cogeneration system.
The venture seems a perfect match. Takagi is considered a leader in point-of-use (a.k.a. on-demand, instantaneous or tankless) hot water heating systems. Nuvera has been developing fuel cells and fuel processors for a number of years now.
Takagi is the larger organization with 1300 employees in Japan and the U.S. Visit Nuvera at http://www.nuvera.com/ and Takagi USA at http://www.takagi-usa.com/ .
