WORLD WIND WATCH.
GE Energy’s wind energy division has announced that it will be supplying 71, 1.5 megawatt turbines to Italy’s Enel Spa, the largest electric utility there.
Enel will be using 38 of the turbines for the Littigheddu wind project now under construction on the island of Sardinia. Five of the turbines will be used to replace older, smaller turbines at the Collarmele project and the remaining 28 turbines will be set aside for future Enel wind projects. Next month McKenzie Bay will be installing its first vertical axis 100 kilowatt DERMOND (sm) wind turbine at the University of Quebec Abitibi-Temiscamingue (UQAT) in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada
The turbine, along with a McKenzie Bay Windstor (sm) energy storage system will function as a combined research and development project and demonstration installation for off-grid, remote access, locations. Visit McKenzie Bay at http://www.mckenziebay.com/ .
