NO COST WASTE DISPOSAL.
Recycling glass, paper and plastic isn’t a big money maker. The real money is in recovering and recycling metals from the ever-flowing stream of waste that goes into the world’s landfill operations.
Startech Environmental, a developer of plasma waste converter systems, has submitted a report to a major U.S. city (It won’t say which) that details how a Plasma Converter System for municipal solid waste (MSW) built and installed by them, could process 2000 tons per day essentially for free, perhaps even make money.
The secret is that metals would be recovered (and eventually sold) before the plasma conversion process takes place. Hydrogen from the process too, as well as electricity generated, would also be sold to cover the cost of building and operating Startech’s system.
In the best case scenario (metals, hydrogen, electricity sold) the major city could earn $10 per ton of processed MSW. Even at worst case scenario - nothing sold, no tipping fees - the costs would be $39 per ton to the city to operate the system.
Startech also points out that its Plasma Converter System is a low-profile, no smokestack operation. Visit Startech at http://www.startech.net/ .
