WORLD WIND WATCH.
Wind Force 12, the report issued recently by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) on the global wind energy market and wind resources, noted that China's wind energy reserve could surpass the total amount of China's current power generation, as well as that in the future decades.
To top that, by the year 2020, China's electricity generated by wind could possibly reach 14 percent of the global wind energy output.
China is just getting started. Construction is now underway for the largest wind farm in the nation - a 100-megawatt facility in Pingtan County in the eastern coastal province of Fujian.
The 780-million-yuan ($95 million) project is expected to generate 250 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year to be distributed to the province and elsewhere. The project is being built by the state-owned Longyuan Power Group. For Wind Force 12 visit the EWEA at http://www.ewea.org/ .
