GO FIGURE.

A new study of Vehicle Shoppers from Harris Interactive and Kelly Blue Book revealed the following...

Among those who intend to buy a hybrid vehicle:

-- 61 percent are men

-- 71 percent are age 35 or older

-- 56 percent are college graduates

-- 35 percent have an annual household income under $50,000

-- 75 percent are Caucasian

-- 83 percent are considering a Toyota

-- 61 percent are considering a Honda

And from a from a sample of the poll’s Demographic Information by Make/Model:

-- Scion xA: 75 percent of xA intenders are male and 41 percent are age 45 or older.

(The Scion xA was ranked the 11th greenest vehicle available in the U.S. in the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE) Greenbook. Scion is Toyota’s youth-oriented brand.

There’s apparently a saying in the automobile business: If you want to sell cars to middle aged people, market them to youth.

The study is from AutoVibes, a monthly service offered by Harris Interactive and Kelly Blue Book that tracks shopper’s awareness, attribute ratings, favorability and buying intentions of new vehicle buyers who plan to purchase or lease a new vehicle within the next 12 months
