EVIDENCE IN PICTURES.
Yes, it’s true. A large number of GM EV1 electric cars have been sent to the crusher. ZAP has a number of distressing photos at its website of at least 36 crushed EV1s. Also what appear to be crushed Chevy S-10 Electric pickup trucks are in the photos taken by an unnamed photographer at GM’s Desert Proving Grounds in Mesa, Arizona.
GM built more than 1100 EV1s, and some certainly survive somewhere, but the company wants to keep the cars out of the hands of the general public, if anything, for liability reasons.
GM announced some time ago that leases for EV1s would not be renewed and that drivers would have to surrender their cars to selected Saturn dealers in California and Arizona. GM claimed the battery electric vehicle project was failure. Yet buyers loved their EV1s. For the photos visit ZAP at http://www.zapworld.com/news/ZAPWATCH/zapwatchhome.htm
