WORLD WIND WATCH.
Got a location where you’d like to build a wind farm in the U.S. - but the wind speeds seem too low? NEG-Micon has a solution for you, the newly introduced NM82 turbine low wind speed turbine - now available to North American markets
The company names its turbines after the rotor diameter of its blades (in meters). Thus the NM82 long blades sweep a circle 82 meters across or more than 266 feet. The long thin blades capture wispy winds as light as 3.5 meters per second (about 8 mile per hour) to turn a generator that will spill out 1.65 megawatts in the best conditions.
The company, too, which specializes in turbines for varied weather and climate conditions has introduced the NM72, a smaller diameter more robustly built version of the 82 for stronger breezes. The first NM82 in the U.S. will be installed at the McNeilus Wind Farm in Dodge Center, Minnesota.
