PLANNING AHEAD.
Eventually the U.S. will have an Administration that really cares about things like global warming and the environment in general and may take active steps - aside from just research programs - to do something about them. This administration of the future, with the help of Congress may force the clean-up of cars and power plants by mandate, or create appealing incentives that companies or consumers will hate to refuse.
Big, smart corporations know that political winds can shift quickly in Washington and it may make sense to invest in clean technologies now when they are relatively cheap to purchase. And corporations, too, that operate on a global scale know that others around the world are more concerned with the environment than the U.S. and are willing spend money on those technologies.
General Electric was quick to scoop up Enron Wind from the wreckage of the parent company. Now GE has decided to take over Jenbacher AG, a maker of biogas and waste gas electric generators and cogeneration equipment. The company produces a line of reciprocating engine generator sets that are rated from 300 to 3000 kilowatts.
So, GE now has another green energy technology in its portfolio. Aside from this purchase and wind energy, GE has also been in the hydroelectric equipment business for years. Visit Jenbacher at http://www.jenbacher.com/
