WORLD WIND WATCH.
The world continues to embrace renewable energy technologies, particularly wind.
Vestas has received an order through its wholly owned subsidiary Italian Wind Technology for 195, V52 - 850-kilowatt turbines. To be installed in seven new wind farms in Sicily and Sardinia, together the new turbines will have a rated capacity of 165 megawatts. Visit Vestas at http://www.vestas.com/
Gamesa Eolica has received orders for 38, G83 -2.0-megawatt turbines to be installed at wind farms known as Cristo Bailones and Alhambra located in Alhambra, Membrilla, La Solana and San Carlos del Valle, Spain.
The company will also supply 23 turbines of 850-kilowatts each for the San Esteban wind farm also in Spain as well as 18, G87, 2.0-megawatt turbines for Spanish power company Ibereolica.
Stretching its wings a little farther to the African Continent, Gamesa has been given a contract by the Egyptian New and Renewable Development Authority (NREA) to supply 100, 850-kilowatt turbines for a wind project in Zafarana. In addition to this 85-megawatt order, Gamesa is hoping to win another 120 megawatt contract when a new request for wind energy is put forth by NREA in 2004. Visit Gamesa at http://www.gamesa.es/ .
