POINTS OF INTEREST.
A weekly collection of websites worth visiting.
PowerLight always seems to make a big splash with big solar projects. And the company website is a hit with good starting points for solar PV links on the web.
The company just completed a 191-kilowatt solar electric system at Pierce College in Woodland Hill, California. For Pierce College the solar system atop a carport, along with microturbines used to power water chilling equipment, are the centerpieces of the institution’s green power program. Working together, the solar array and microturbines will reduce Pierce’s operating costs for power by 50 percent within 15 years.
The 20,000 square foot array could provide enough solar electricity for 200 homes, according to PowerLight.
While visiting the PowerLight website be sure to browse the section on Solar Electricity for PowerLight’s own solar educational information as well as links. The Case Studies section describes many of the company’s projects going back a number of years. Visit Powerlight at http://www.powerlight.com/ .
