POINTS OF INTEREST.

A weekly collection of websites worth visiting.

In what should be a stunning technological achievement for the world’s most populous nation, China plans to join the humans-in-space club with the launch of the Shenshou 5 sometime between October 15 -17. One Taikonaut will complete 14 orbits.

To China, the first launch, if successful, will push the nation beyond being seen as just a manufacturer to one as technological innovator that could resonate into other technologies such as motor vehicles.

While the country already has a small industry building conventional vehicles, it is already a leader in producing low-cost green vehicles - at least in zero-emission electric scooters.

One of many websites from China offering electric scooters - battery electric kick scooters, small low-speed sit down scooters, and full-sized scooters - is China Scooter World Industry. The selection is impressive and extensive with some innovative ideas. Take a few minutes to browse the site, but don’t let your kids see the Flying Shoes! http://www.exportscooter.com/

Want to help build a hydrogen economy in Canada? Want to get in on the ground floor? There’s money available (60 million CAD, 45 million USD) in the Hydrogen Early Adopters program from Technology Partnerships Canada, an arm of Industry Canada. A wide range of hydrogen and fuel cell technology applications may be eligible. But you need a partner and some cash yourself. Grants are cost matching. Interesting program, good website http://www.tpc.ic.gc.ca/h2
