WORLD WIND WATCH.
According to news reports GE WindEnergy is in the preliminary planning stages of a 121-megawatt wind farm for Northern California. To be built on 8200 acres of federal land in Lake and Colusa counties the project would, if approved, have 81, 1.5 megawatt turbines of the same brand name. The as-yet-unnamed project would be built along Walker Ridge at a windy elevation of 3000 feet. Visit GE WindEnergy at http://www.gewind.com/ .
Navitas Energy is discussing with officials of the Town of Marshfield, the possibility of a 40-45 turbine wind farm for Fond Du Lac County, Wisconsin . The capacity of the facility has not been announced, but if built the project would be complete by the end of 2004.
Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa owns 75 percent of Navita’s stock, so don’t be surprised if that company’s turbines are used in the project, if built. The Marshfield project would bring to four the number of projects planned or proposed for Wisconsin (check) Visit Navitas http://www.windpower.com/ .
FPL Energy and partner PPM Energy have officially dedicated the High Winds Energy Center being built along the Montezuma Hills in Solano County, California. About 146 megawatts have been installed to date. The project should be up to its full capacity of 162 megawatts by the end of 2003. Visit FPL at http://www.fplenergy.com/
