Improved Efficiency for Silicon Solar

IMPROVED EFFICIENCY FOR SILICON SOLAR.

BP Solar has announced a world record of 18.3 percent solar efficiency in a 125 mm cell for its Saturn line of premium solar cells - up from 16.5 percent currently available in the product line.

BP achieved the higher efficiency by improvements in the company’s Saturn Laser Grooved Buried Grid technology which has been in production for ten years. The new higher-efficiency technology will be incorporated in cells soon to be produced at the company’s new $150 million state-of-the-art Tres Cantos manufacturing facility in Spain, as well as at its existing Alcobendas plant near Madrid.

The higher efficiency rating was verified by the Fraunhofer Institut de Solare Energiesystem in Germany. Visit BP Solar at http://www.bpsolar.com/
