ENERGY SAVINGS EVERYWHERE.

Who would ever think anyone would worry about the energy wasted when a bathroom light is left on? Well, if you operate a hotel with 400 rooms where, on average, bathroom lights can be left on for 8 hours a day, a lot of kilowatt hours consumed can have an affect on the hotel’s bottom line.

The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab), in an agreement with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), will study how using a product offered by Watt Stopper can save energy in a DoubleTree Hotel. The results of the study will be used to build a market for the WN Motion Sensor Nightlight and others like it for the hotel industry.

The product being tested has an occupancy sensor that shuts a light off (if it’s not shut-off manually) after one hour. Included in the device, which can replace a standard sized light switch, is a LED nightlight which is both energy efficient and bright enough to offer enough light for middle of the night trips to the loo without turning on the overhead.
