DIRTY OLD DIESELS.

The U.S. EPA announced this week that long term exposure to diesel exhaust - in particular exhaust from older diesels built before the mid-1990’s, before clean diesels were introduced - could likely cause lung cancer. No surprise here.

According to the National BioDiesel Board Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) and Nitrated Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (nPAH) are two of the compounds found in conventional diesel exhaust that could cause cancer are reduced 80 and 90 percent respectively in diesel engines running on B100, 100 percent biodiesel.

Since biodiesel can be used in any diesel engine, the older engines as specified by the EPA could benefit from its use. Visit http://www.biodiesel.org/ .
