CARBON OPPORTUNITIES.
As Kyoto nears full enforcement outside the U.S., international business opportunities will begin surface. Aside from the development of renewables, carbon trading, already taking place, will become even more common and possibly lucrative.
Rothschild Australia and E3 International have announced they will join forces to launch the Carbon Ring Consortium, the first emission trading vehicle for the Asia-Pacific region.
Firms with potential future carbon emission liabilities can become investors in Carbon Ring and through the Consortium purchase carbon credits from domestic and international projects that have already achieved a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Investors can avoid making emissions reductions themselves by purchasing credits, or use the credits to delay making real reductions until they are able or willing to do so financially or technically.
Carbon Ring will also offer advice and education on carbon trading. Visit the Consortium at http://www.carbonring.com/
