NEW RENEWABLE MARKET.
Taiwan imports 95 percent of its annual energy needs. Realizing the danger in energy insecurity, the country has taken the first step to become more energy self-sufficient by creating the Taiwan New Energy Industrial Development Association. Founded by the government, the Association will work together with private industry to develop green energy technologies for the nation, such as solar, wind, biomass and fuel cells. Aside from the security issue, export opportunities for the technologies will be sought.
