IT IS US.

In the just issued Third U.S. National Communication on Climate Change (also known as the U.S. Climate Action Report) issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Bush Administration now admits that global warming and climate change are most likely caused by human activities - it is us. The report also says that the United States will be substantially changed in the next few decades because of the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. And those changes, such as the disappearance of some coastal marshlands and more heat waves, will be permanent.

Yet so far there is no change in policy from this Administration to lessen the impact of the problem for future generations. The report recommends that we’ll have to adapt.

So, for now it’s business as usual. The Bush White House still says that reductions in greenhouse gases from industry, power plants, buildings and vehicles will have to be voluntary. It may be only a matter of time, though, before this stance is changed too. The Report is available at http://www.epa.gov/globalwarming (click New in Site)
