GREEN POWER MARKETS.

Eight percent of households - 8.5 million customers - is the current market potential in the U.S. for grid connected green power, according to a new study from Platts Research and Consulting’s E Source Green Energy Service. The equivalent of 28,000 megawatts of power from renewable sources would be needed to meet that demand if all signed on.

Platts/E Source has also completed interviews of 1900 current green power customers to determine a market profile, and, according to the company, potential customers with similar profiles can be found throughout the country.

Right now, utilities that offer green power - Platts/E Source says 13 in the U.S. - are trying to find new ways to get the message out to potential green power purchasers and get them to sign on to their services.

Market/aggregate customer profiles are important tools in any industry for target marketing and sales efforts. Platts/E Source, rightly so, will only distribute the full research results to members of its services. Visit Platts at http://www.platts.com/ (click Press Releases)
