WATCHING THE SUN SHINE.
Not only is the largest solar system in the U.S. now operating, you can monitor its output via the Web.
The 1.18 megawatt , three acre system, atop the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, California utilizes PowerGuard (tm) photovolatic solar roof tiles from PowerLight to displace electricity ordinarily supplied from grid. The roof tiles, though not a water tight roofing system, add additional insulation to the building for improved overall energy efficiency at the facility.
A special website at http://www.co.alameda.ca.us/srjp/index.htm has been created to monitor the power output from the system as well as offer additional information about the project. Visit PowerLight at http://www.powerlight.com/ .
