GREEN GERMANY.
The German Environment Ministry is reporting that 5.3 million residents now have their power supplied from green sources and another 1 million will go green by the end of the year. In the past three years the German utility industry and the government have invested 13.7 billion Euros ($11.9 billion) in the development of renewable energy - a cost equal to four nuclear power plants.
Annual sales of green power have reached a volume of 8 billion Euros ($6.96 billion). By 2010 300,000 jobs could be in the renewable energy sector in the country. Visit the Federal Environment Ministry at http://www.bmu.de/ .
